St Augustine had plenty of things to see, but for the most part it was pretty touristy. There were a couple of competing trolley tours. We elected to go with the Old Town Trolley. There's a cute little downtown with lots of shops and a neat old fort that dominates the bay, but it all felt kind of schticky to me. The kids loved the Old Jail tour and feeding the fish at the restaurant where we ate lunch (which was a tourist trap), so touristy can be fun sometimes. I loved the old oaks, learning about the history of the area, and the beautiful old architecture, especially Flagler College. It was our introduction to Henry Flagler, who we would hear about again and again as we traveled the Florida coast.
In the evening, we made our way to Daytona Beach. We got a hotel, went swimming at the beach and the pool, and then ventured out to the boardwalk for a late night pizza dinner.
