We started off the day by trying to find a Honda dealer in Orlando. When our battery died the stereo would not work without re-entering the anti-theft code. We figured it would be a long trip without a stereo. I had what I thought was the code written down on a piece of paper in my wallet. After trying it a number of times, it became obvious that it wasn't the right code.
We found a dealer and they tried some quick tricks, but none of them worked. They were busy and said that it would be at least an hour before they could do a more in-depth analysis. In the meantime we called the dealer where we bought the van. They told us that the code is usually on a sticker placed in an out of the way place. We turned the van upside down looking for the sticker. We had just about given up when Helen noticed it on the back side of a dashboard console drawer. After a mini-celebration we continued on towards St Augustine.
We happened upon the Marineland dolphin training center. We had fun watching the trainers work with the dolphins and enjoyed the nice setting overlooking the ocean. We walked on the beach after our visit.
We made it to St Augustine and visited Fort Matanzas, a Spanish fort from 1740. After the fort, we toured around town and gathered some information. We found a hotel and asked the hostess for a dinner recommendation. There was a Santa convention in town and they were all eating at the restaurant. The Santa's had fun joking with the kids (and the adults). A couple of them gave the boys business cards and photos.
