George III

Last week we found a turtle in our yard, and of course the boys wanted to keep it. It seems all non dog\cat pets must be named George and since this is the third turtle we've found in the yard over the years, the new turtle's name is George III. We let the boys keep the other turtles for a while as well before releasing them.

George the turtle now joins George the gerbil on our kitchen table. George the gerbil is fairly social, but George the turtle mostly just hides under the dirt - until Adam digs him up to play.
