It is such a great feeling to wake up and know that you've got your whole vacation in front of you. The view from our balcony was terrific and we loved sitting out there overlooking the pool and the lake.
We started our first morning with a tour of the Wilderness Lodge and learned all kinds of neat things about the lodge from our tour guide, Stan. Stan must of been close to 90. He talked very slow and very softly and finished every sentence with "Sound good?" He was a very nice man and we enjoyed hearing about his trips to Disney World that he would take with his now deceased "Sweetie".
It's so nice to stay at least a week at Disney World so you don't feel rushed and you can take the time to do the fun and off the beaten path things that make the place so special.
We LOVED the boat transportation from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. It was never very crowded, always punctual, and very relaxing.
When we reached Magic Kingdom it was obviously more crowded than it was back in 2007. Derek was much more eager to ride thrill rides this time and was sometimes impatient, but we passed our time checking out things like Tom Sawyer's Island and the Swiss Family Robinson tree house, which had minimal lines. One bummer was that Space Mountain was closed for renovations.
After spending the day at the Magic Kingdom we went back to the pool at our resort, got cleaned up, and headed over to Fort Wilderness for the Hoop-De-Doo Review dinner show. We did the show in 2007 and the kids loved it. It's pretty hokey, but a lot of fun. And this time the food was really good. Last time it was sub-par, but this time it was some of the best food we had the whole week. It may of had to do with the fact that we went to the late show last time and went to the early show this time. Whatever, we're still talking about the mouth watering bbq ribs, fried chicken, corn bread, baked beans, and strawberry shortcake.
After the dinner show we took the boat back to the Magic Kingdom for the SpectroMagic parade and caught the Electrical Water Pageant on the way. Adam was so excited! It's so nice to be able to hop over to the Magic Kingdom for SpectroMagic to cap the day off. We've seen it a bunch of times and it's always magical.
