A couple weeks ago, Derek finally got the iPod Touch he's been saving for. We researched getting a used iPhone (without a calling plan) instead because the newer iPhones have a camera and video recorder, but decided the used iPhones were still too expensive.
An iPod Touch is a pretty nice toy for a kid, but it is his own money and I really appreciate his enthusiasm for technology. He loves to learn about new things and expand his knowledge and he has done a great job of maintaining the laptop he got last year.
I just have to point him in the general direction by telling him things like "You should be able to download applications by creating a new iTunes account that doesn't require a credit card". He researches it and makes it happen. That's what I call taking care of your own business and I really appreciate it.
