Derek had his first band concert a couple weeks ago. The kids stayed after school for some extra practice and then had a pizza party before the concert so it was a long day for Derek.
The concert was actually pretty enjoyable. They had a nice sound system through which they piped a canned accompaniment that the band played along with. The kids were actually pretty good for just learning to play. It was also nice to hear the 7th and 8th grade symphonic band. The symphonic band could really play and it was a good to show the 6th graders what they could sound like with practice.
After the concert we went back to our house for some cake and a quick birthday celebration since my birthday was the next day.
